Burgh Castle, Norfolk, England

The southern walls of Burgh Castle

Burgh Castle

Burgh Castle is regarded as “the best preserved Roman monument in East Anglia”. Its history stems back to the Romans, but was later used by the Normans, and the ruins can be visited today.

The castle is haunted by a figure with what appears to be “a white flag wrapped round it” that is thrown from the ruins onto the foreshore. Coxe states that the event occurs on 3rd July.
